The name comes from the fact that the river is a long stretch of waterfalls or gorges around, as when one twists nets.

It is said that this is the only waterfall in Northern Europe where people and animals can pass under the waterfall itself. Under the waterfall, the road went down to the fjord. Here the farmers had fruit, they picked nuts, found material for ropes (linden trees) and barrel bands (hazel forest), and here there was good grazing for sheep and horses.

The road to Tvinnefossen is easily accessible and you have a great view over the beautiful Nordfjord.

00:25 – Rand/Hopland (starting point for the walk)
Leisure on your own for 1,5 hours. Walk 1,2 km along a road to the waterfall.
02:00 - Departure bus to Nordfjordeid
02:25 - Arrival Nordfjordeid at quay next to the ship
